In 1996, history was made when Greyville Racecourse became the first track in South Africa to successfully install floodlights, adding another dimension to the world of thoroughbred horseracing.
Action-packed and exciting, night racing has always been well supported but is now building in popularity following the installation of a new synthetic Polytrack. Other exciting upgrades include a modern bookmaker’s area near to the popular Lightning Shot Bar, a Braai Zone casual eating area and a Kidzone which are all being well supported.
Two massive television screens positioned in the infield bring all the racing action closer to patrons. Catering facilities have been refurbished and upgraded. The Saddler’s Arms has been completely revamped and extensive improvements have been made to the Durban View Restaurant.
With music, restaurants, picnic areas, beer gardens, special events and more, Greyville Racecourse is the place to be when racing is on a Friday Night. So whether you want to dress to the nines or relax and have some fun, then what better way to start the weekend than with a visit to the races!
